dog walking on Friday 10/19

Scoobie - He was happy to see me and his new harness is so nice to walk him with.  Scoobie's walk this morning felt more like he was walking me, he was walking so fast. :)
Jay and Chloe - Chole was so sweet and playful.  Jay was busy chasing the ball everytime I threw it. I was thankful the rain never came.  Jay caught most of the balls I threw this morning.  Chole ate breakfast while we were out throwing balls.

Lesson #37 Learned by this Dog Walker

This has been an earlier lesson learned, perhaps one of my first but now I have another reason for doing this.  I should always, always, always take one more poop bag than I think I will need.  I was walking Turner and Bailey, 2 dachshunds so I only had one poop bag.  They don't always poop and even if both do, one poop bag is enough.  UNLESS the poop bag I have isn't sealed on one end.  Ugh!  Luckily they are small dogs, I could still make the bag work.  :)

dog walking on Sunday 10/14/12

I've seen 4 dachshunds in the past 24 hours and 2 chihuahuas, 1 boxer and 1 lab mix. My view of Louie, Lola and Sunny on our walks!

Sunny, Louis & Lola - they are great.  In the middle of the night, Sunny wanted to go out and I didn't hear him so he licked me on the face.  That woke me up!  LOL!!

Snickers - the oldest dachshund Im seeing this weekend. Shes 11.

Snickers - She gets so excited when she realizes she is going for a walk.  It makes me smile.  We took a couple of short walks so she could take care of all of her business.  She's eaten all of her food from yesterday too.  I fed her breakfast and gave her some fresh water.

Not a great picture of Turner and Bailey. Id just put them in their playpen.

Turner & Bailey -  Turner was most interested in chewing on things when we were outside.  He did take care of his business each visit.  We played with one of his toys inside - he is quite the retriever!  Bailey enjoyed getting some lovin'.

Stella - enjoying our walk yesterday at dinner time.

Stella - what a love bug.  We took our walks but I think she enjoyed meal time the most!  She was just fine on our walks but we didn't see any cats or birds!! :)  I know she'll be happy to see you too!

haha... Rooney wanted to carry this small branch around as we walked!

Rooney - what a ham!  We had an uneventful walk too.  There wasn't anyone else out when we were out.  He was just great!

Bear & Milo - I think all 3 of us have enjoyed our walks.  The weather in the mornings has just been perfect for a fast paced walk.

dog walking on Saturday 10/13

Bear and Milo - we've had 2 really nice walks!  The weather this morning was perfect.  We even jogged some this morning!  They're both eating well too.  Thanks for leaving out the 2nd bowl of water.  I'm not sure that they're drinking out of it but they're other bowl has been empty both visits... they definitely prefer that one! :) Snickers, Stella, Bailey & Turner, Sunny, Louie & Lola, Rooney, and Sadie - I update the blog once / day usually mid-morning after my early morning visits.  Since I'm not seeing your dogs until later in the day, my blog post about our visits will be made Sunday morning.  Please call/text/email me if you want an update before then.  It is going to be a busy afternoon and evening!  Thank you for that!

Lesson Learned #36

Citronella spray works.  I have a canister of citronella spray that I bought from my vet.  It clips on like a can of mace.  I was walking a dog this past week and another dog was off-leash and approaching us.  Another woman who was out walking her dog said that the dog approaching us had attacked her dog 3 times.  I did try tossing treats at the dog first to distract it but that didn't work.  He got about 5 yards away from us and I sprayed the citronella in his direction.  The first time he didn't stop but the 2nd time I sprayed it, he turned around.  Success!  It is not harmful to dogs but they dislike the smell.

Mr Lucky Meow, Oh No, Squeakers - Oh No met me right away in the kitchen and Mr Lucky Meow was in there pretty quickly too.  I split the can of food between the 4 bowls and gave Squeakers a large spoonful of it.  I put the rest of it down for the other two.  I put one scoop of dry food in each bowl up on the counter for Squeakers.  I gave them a fresh bowl of water downstairs too.
