Dog Walking on Wed 12/10

Hero - He did not like all of the wind today.  It was a quick walk.... actually longer than he probably wanted it to be though. Brady & Ferguson - We walked almost all the way around the circle.  I avoided the construction.  We jogged a little ways and then walked the rest.  They walked pretty well today... and they chased each other some too of course!

Max - Max was sleeping pretty hard when I came in today.  He did get up and we went outside so he could pee.

Cleo - Cleo enjoyed some sniffing and rolling around in your neighbor's yards on the walk today.  We went to the park and back.  She also REALLY wanted to say hello to one of your neighbor's housekeepers.  She was really nice and said hello to Cleo.

Dog walking on Tues 2/9

Hero - we managed to get out for our walk before the rain so Hero was happy about that!  He took care of all of his business and then he headed straight for the house.  It's still pretty cold outside for the little guy!

Lucy - I'll bet if I looked back on my posts, this is the 3rd Tuesday in a row that it has rained.  When I got to your house, it was sprinkling.  By the time Lucy and I got just outside your fence, here comes the rain.  A steady rain, not too heavy and at least it wasn't windy.  I left you a note that I started a new workout regime and today was Day 2.  I planned Day 2 on purpose the morning before I walked Lucy b/c I knew I'd get a really good walk in to stretch my legs.  I did and Lucy seemed to really enjoy the walk too.  We actually got a little lost but I dont think she cared.  I didnt!  :)  When we got back to the house, she ran inside and grabbed her new toy.  It's not in the picture but I know it was closeby!

Brady & Ferguson - the boys and I jogged halfway around the circle today but they we stopped b/c Fergie had to poop.  :)  We walked and jogged the other half but they were still really full of energy when we got back in the house.  They were zooming all around the room chasing each other.

Sunny & Louis - We had a nice walk today and both guys pooped and of course they peed several times.  I put their sweaters on both of them b/c it was cold outside.

Max - Max was sleeping with his back to the door when I came in.  He'd lifted his head (I assume he could hear the alarm) but then when I shut it off, he laid his head back down.  I think he thought he could go back to sleep!  We did go outside and he peed.

Cleo - I think she was feeling really good today.  She came running down the stairs and she pounced (really, it was a pounce!) on her stuffed bone.  We went for a long walk and when we got back inside, she went running after her toy again and jumped around with it in her mouth.  She was pretty funny - I had to laugh at her.

Pet Sitting on Monday 2/8

Jay & Chloe - they were sleeping still this morning when I came in.  As soon as Jay saw me though, she was all excited and ready to play ball so we did! Hero - We had a nice walk this morning.  Once he was done with his business, he was ready to come back inside though!

Brady & Ferguson - the boys and I went on a walk today.  I tried to get them to "walk" and they did part of the time, the other part of the time they were trying to play with each other and I was trying not to trip over them!

Louis & Sunny - the sun came out by the time we walked.  I still put Sunny's coat on though.  It felt really nice and I think all three of us enjoyed it!

Max - Bless Max's heart, he was sleeping in between the towels and his bed when I came in.  I think he got a little cold outside too, he was shivering when we came back inside.  (I'd fixed his bed and towels so he laying on his bed when I left.)

Dusty - He was sleeping today when I came in.  Then when he saw it was me, he got all excited.  I just love this job!

Sam and Buddy in the snow and a warning

Sam and Buddy love the snow but particularly Sam does.  He's my 12 year old yellow lab.  I took them outside for about 10 minutes on Saturday after it'd snowed so they could play.  Sam likes to roll around in the snow (see above) and eat the snow but the fun turned a little scary once we got inside.  Sam started trembling, really really trembling and then he started moaning.  I figured he was cold so I put his sweater on him.  This is the dog that gets overheated really easily.  I called my vet and thank goodness they were open.  They said his core temperature got too cold and I needed to warm him up on the outside and the inside.   I heated a mixture of broth and water (not certain if the broth would upset his really sensitive stomach) and he drank that.  Then he laid down on the couch and I wrapped him up in blankets.  Again, this is the dog that gets hot really easily but he stayed under the blanket for over an hour.  Then he crawled out and sprawled on the floor on his side.... I think he was getting a little too warm.

So be careful with your pets this time of year when it is this cold.  It has taken me a week to post this note or any pictures of them in the snow because it bothered me that I let this happen.  Luckily he's okay.

Pet sitting on Super Bowl Sunday 2/7/10

Jay & Chloe -Jay had eaten all of her food again but Chloe still had some left her in her bowl.  I refilled both of them and gave them some fresh water.  I threw the ball a little bit for Jay but it was 25 degrees outside so I didn't want her out there too much.  I've noticed when she comes in she is trembling so I'm not certain if that is because of the cold or not but I didn't want her to get too cold.  They both certainly seem to be doing just fine!

Hadley, Ollie & Daisy - Ollie slept in the room with me again and Daisy and Hadley slept downstairs.  Hadley must've heard something because he starting barking during the night.  They all went outside and peed this morning and then I gave them their breakfast.

Pet Sitting on Saturday Feb 6

Hadley, Ollie & Daisy - everyone is doing just fine.  Ollie slept in the room with me and Hadley and Daisy (of course!) stayed downstairs.  Daisy was curled up in her bed when I headed upstairs to bed.  Everyone went outside and peed this morning.  Daisy was ready to go (she peed last night too.)  It had stopped raining this morning so that helped but Ollie and Hadley's paws were a mess :) Jay & Chloe - Yea, it has stopped raining!  Jay was sleeping in the living room I think this morning.  She came through the kitchen when she heard me.  I threw the ball for her for awhile and then I wiped her paws off when we came inside.  Somehow they weren't that bad.  I gave Chloe a little more food this morning too.

Brady & Fergie - The boys and I went for a short jog and they played with each other some too.

Madden & Diesel - We went for a nice walk and both boys peed several times and they pooped too.
